No Local Foundation would like to invite you for the seventh part of ART IN CINEMA project. On Thursday, November the 27th, at 7.00 pm in Kino pod Baranami in Kraków (27 Main Market) there will be a screening of video works by Agnieszka Brzeżańska.
Agnieszka Brzeżańska is a painter, graphic artist, photographer, and film-maker. With the use of these media she registers little spectacles of reality and unnoticeable defects within intricately constructed myths. In her works the critical approach is mingled with fascination. Critics wrote about her that she “evades making «artworks» - she makes «art without art» in the realm of which artistic object becomes an almost transparent means of conveying impressions and happenings.” Techniques that the artist uses are widely available, somehow “democratic” – she make her videos with the use of her mobile phone, she takes pictures with a Polaroid, and finds paintings in the Internet. She states: “I have the right to use reality to tell my story. If I am bombarded with a huge amount of information units, it is quite natural that I use them to my advantage, and not against my interests. I want to build my stories with the use of what is easily accessible and already familiar, at least in visual, physical dimension.”
In November in Kino pod Baranami there will take place a screening of video works by Agnieszka Brzeżańska.
Agnieszka Brzeżańska (born in 1972). Painter, photographer, film-maker. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (1992-1995), Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1995-1997, graduated under the supervision of Professor Stefan Gierowski) and National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokio (1998-2001). As an artist-in-residence she worked at Mont Escalioso, Italy (Oreste 2000), at the sciences institute of Collegium Helveticum in Zurich, Switzerland (2004), in Kunstlerhaus Buchsenhausen, Innsbruck, Austria (2005). She showed her works i.a. at the Centre of Contemporary Art Zamek Ujazdowski (Warsaw), at the National Gallery Zachęta (Warsaw), at the Platan Gallery (Budapest), at Künstlerhaus Buchsenhausen (Innsbruck), at Broadway 1602 (New York), at Hotel Gallery (London). She lives and works in Warsaw. At present she is taking part in a prestigious „Art TLV 2008” project in Tel Aviv.
